This 30-part series will help you overcome your frustrations or boredom with your improvisation! By laying out a series of improvisational limitations, you'll be forced to create entirely new ideas on the spot, unlocking new improvisational freedom!

David DeJesus
Director of Jazz Studies at Purchase College
Multi-Instrumentalist and newly appointed Director of Jazz Studies at Purchase College David DeJesus has been on the New York City Jazz scene since the late ’90s and performed with a wide variety of legendary groups. In jazz, David has performed with the Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Mingus Big Band, the Dizzy Gillespie Alumni All-Stars, among many others. In Latin jazz and salsa, David has performed with the Grammy Award–winning Arturo O’Farrill Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, the Grammy-nominated Bobby Sanabria Big Band, and the legendary Ron Carter’s Great Big Band. In addition to running the Jazz Program at Purchase College, he also runs the Birdland Big Band at the iconic Birdland NYC Jazz Club.
